I have seen, in catalogs, a rope type of training aid that helps teach foals to lead, but cannot find it now when I could use one. They have a lead that lays around the foals haunches and gives them that extra incentive to move forward.

I know the ones I saw were for big horse foals not minis, but I thought I could make one in miniature if I saw the big size. Has anyone seen these, or does anyone have one and can post pictures of it here, or fwd me pics?

Thank you,

dru

hey Dru, you need to update Molly's age!

Hey Dru, you can just use a regular lead rope. Clip it on the halter, then bring it around the side and under the tail, around the other side and back up through the halter.

I would not use anything like that. I trained a big appy 1/4 horse foal with a butt rope and the ditz thought she had to have that rope on to walk forward. I don't know if it was that she was a dumb as her mother or maybe she was just mentaly deffictive.
