Hello all! I'm a first time Mini owner, and need a bit of help. I haven't bought my Mini's yet, so I need some help on setting up my barn. How big do I need to make the stalls for the Miniatures? [ Example- 10' x 10' ] And-- What do I use as fencing for their pasture? I've heard Miniatures are escape artists, and don't want to loose mine. I live out in the middle of no where, (where there's lots of woods) and the last thing I need is a loose Mini!

10x10 is plenty big for a mini. Most of my stalls are 8x12, but I have one that is 8x8 and that works fine, too.

For fencing, we have cattle panels on oak posts and I really like this way. The panels do a good job keeping dogs out and are very sturdy (see pictures). We have the oak posts set every 8'. The panels are 16' long and 52" tall.

Also, pictured is one of my barns -- so you can see it doesn't have to be any fancier than you want it to be

: My husband has built a few of these kind for me and the stalls in this kind are 8x12. Safe and clean is really the main thing. As you can maybe see, the only thing fancy at my place are some of the horses! :bgrin

Thank you very much, Jill. Now I'm one step further into getting those minis! :aktion033: :bgrin

No problem! I should have also pointed out that you can put those cattle panels on metal t-posts (no further than 8' appart though), which makes it even faster to put up a fence

I'm very amused [and interested] with this. I hope we get our minis soon!

I'm with Jill! I LOVE the cattle panels, like she said, it does a great job keeping these little guys in and of great importance - helps to keep the predators out.

Welcome to the "Mini World" You are going to wonder "why" you didn't get them sooner and how you ever managed without them. I always had big horses but I wouldn't trade these precious little guys for anything!

Jill, just have to say...I want your trees! :bgrin Your place looks very cozy with barns tucked into those wonderful trees.

Oh thanks

Cozy is the right word -- I wish it were bigger :bgrin But, then, we all know what would happen (more horses)
