Hay Extender

Does anyone use a hay extender? What brand and how does it work? Is it just a pelleted supplement?

I have been using the hay stretcher for my 29 year old Arabian who has trouble chewing hay. He loves it, and now wants it FIRST, before his Sr. feed. It is pelleted, and I have gotten it from Southern States and Tractor Supply. I can't tell the difference between the two. I suspect it is produced by the same plant. It doesn't provide any supplimental vitamins or minerals.

Is it labelled as "hay stretcher" on the bag? Or, is it called something else?
