Does anyone bail their own hay? I was just asked to take over 80 acres of hay fields.

Nope, but we'd sure like to. Our neighbor does our roughly 30 acre field and takes 70%.

We have baled our own hay for years and put up big (1100 - 1600#) round bales. In our area of Minnesota, the first cutting was usually end of June, first part of July, and sometimes there was only one cutting. If circumstances allowed a second cutting that was usually in late August.

The equipment included tractor, swather (hay cutter), hay rake, and baler. Bales were automatically tied with twine and parked in long rows until used.
