I remember in the dwarf topic, i mentioned the breeder breeding specifically to get horses that were not in proportion. I finally found the pic of the horse. Another member on here will remember it i'm sure!

I believe the term they use now is Skeletal Atavism, formerly Achondroplasia dwarfism (don't think I spelled that right). The body is normally proportioned, but the legs are very short; if I remember right the majority of the shortening occurs in the upper leg bones.
 
I remember back in the early 80's, horses built like that were sold for top dollars at auction and these were some of the top breeders in the industry at the time. Coming from a big horse background, I couldn't believe it. The mares built like that were especially popular for breeding with those full bodies.

So good to know they are, for the most part, gone.

Oh, I got that, but these "breeders" won't last long as they will discover there is a very limited market if any market at all.
