Hi there, my 2yr old bay filly has some silver hair growing through her coat, not an awful lot, but it is there, she has a few in her tail aswell, she is out of a bay mare and a silver bay sire, could she change to a silver bay ?

Could you post a picture? That would help. What color are the mane, tail and legs?

I knew i'd get asked for pics - so i've just been and taken some !!!

mane and tail are black/brown with silver ! her legs are black

It is not at all uncommon for a bay horse to have a few white hairs in their mane and tail. In fact I'm not sure I've ever owned any horse with a black tail that didn't have a few random white hairs in it. She be a pretty girl even if she were purple tho

thankyou for all you replies and i would love her no matter what colour !

she is the most amazing laid back filly you could ever wish to have.

My experience with silver horses is they usually are born with a light mane and tail that grows darker hairs in as they age. It doesn't happen in reverse, and if your horse were to "go gray," they would be a gray, not silver

Your girl is an old fashioned bay, nothing more ;)
