Here it is folks. I was on the verge of flipping out as I have that lot and recently (weekend) used it on all my horses.

Only took a few minutes to get them on the telephone, and just a glace at the tube to see the manufacturer. Put www. and .com around the name and got the contact info. Beats the heck out of worrying to just find out by making a call...

I just wanted to bump this up. I think the rumor is still really scaring some people so for the benefit of anyone who's gotten worked up about this, but hasn't seen yet that it's just a hoax.

I have used this product with no problem and have wormed my yearlings with it yesterday 2-22-06.

I am so relieved that this was a hoax.

I LOVE this product....I have several mares that are conditioned to the apple flavored wormers.....some of these were VERY DIFFICULT to deworm when I first got them....they would flip backwards and sling their heads, acting terrible!!!!

Now that I have found apple flavored varieties in all three chemical classes of dewormers, these rough girls sniff the tube and SUCK IT OUT as fast as I can push the plunger. NO HALTER NECESSARY.

It has made a world of difference in some of my older broodmares that were conditioned to hate deworming time.

It took me years of looking to find an ivermectin based dewormer with the flavoring and now that I found Bimectin, I don't have to fight the girls who know the difference!!!

It is a great product.

Mine really do seem to like it, too. It will be nice to have deworming become something they like vs. avoid. Some truly recognize what a tube means and they are not easy to apprehend. And, I think it must taste good just based on how sweet it smells to me!!!

Thanks for posting this information. Glad to know that the lot is safe and can be used.

I need to get out and deworm everyone.

On 10 Feb 06 I placed an online order for Ivermectin from Country Supply. In the mail today, I got the Bimectin. I will be calling them in the morning and chewing on someones butt.

I will NOT use this product. I will not bet the life of any of my kids.

I suppose Quest wormer problems is a hoax too.

Do you REALY think they would fess up if something was wrong with their product??

Here is something for everyones edification, from a Donkey group I am on, telling of some ones horses that have died from this ' HOAX ' as some seem to think. To each their own.

Subject : [Donkeys] More about Bimectin-please read

Got this from a crosspost on another listserve: I think this needs to be passed on!

-------------

Hi Judy, Thank You for your well wishes, Im so sorry I havent

updated the group, I have been so busy and fuzzy minded the last few

days...This is the latest update, below. (Also a woman called BIMEDA

and they said that my horses had not been seen in 7 days.?) Well

TODAY is the 7th day from WORMING them, they were wormed last

wednesday, got sick on thursday and died on the weekend, and as we

speak my darling horses body parts are in labs being tested. So the

7 day stuff just doesn't wash...I'm guessing the smear campagin and

the "cover their rears" is about to begin.

Im already getting harassing and strange phone calls from them, and

their lawyers are threating to take me to court if I say anything

about BIMECTIN. Well my attorney says I can say anything I like as

long as its the truth, so im still talking and going to continue to

do as as long as they continue with the denials. One more note, I

have been in contact by e-mail and phone to others that as I type,

are sick, and some sadly dead, with the SAME symptoms as mine...and

same wormer. I figure most people will come to their own decisions

on that little " conincidence"?..And they are all ages, breeds, and

in several states. Kerry

Please feel free to cross post this letter and thankyou for your

support. I will need it in the comming days as the company begins

its full "Spin" .

===================================================

After further consultaion with my attorney, and after receiving both

warning letters, and strange phone calls from the BIMEDA Company I

am releasing this statement. Please feel free to foward to

interested parties. I received a WARNING letter today!

For and on behalf of:

Bimeda Inc and part of Cross Vetpharm Holdings Plc

PD Brady Group Company Secretary and Group Chief Legal Officer

That in part stated that if I continued to make comments about

BIMECTIN they would take me to court for slander etc. I then

recieved a message on my answering machine from the BIMEDA vet

saying that "He had a found out some "infomation" what I was feeding

my horses, and that was the "real problem", and that he wanted to

send out a specilist to check that my other horses where not in

danger, and that he thought my other horses where in danger, and the

sepcialist would come to help "save" my other horses."

(THIS QUOTE IS NOT VERBATIUM) I of course called my vet to enquire

if my feed samples came back with something wrong. My vet has given

NO REPORT or infomation to BIMEDA. He said that my (remaining)

horses are FINE and HEALTHY. And my feed report (that he anticipates

will come back FINE as ALL my horses eat it, and ONLY the ones that

used this product are dead and sick!) Therefore what "infomation"

BIMEDA could have recieved is mind boggling. So thats a bit strange,

I have been told by my attorney that it is just a scare tactic, so

that BIMEDA can have access to my property. If they want to enquire

about access to my property they can call my attorney. I feel I did

the right thing, I sent out a warning to other horse owners that

there MAY be a problem and to use caution. It dismays me that the

company that says that they have the animals welfare in mind would

infact do all they can to smear me, and cover their backsides.

Wouldnt you think a caring company would be screaming from the hill

tops "STOP let us test first! and then TEST AGAIN, we dont want to

take ANY RISKS!" Instead they are saying..." We tested....Everything

is fine" So it really comes down to their FINANCIAL BOTTOM

LINE..dosnt it?? Yet I am recieving E-mails and phone calls from

people that AS WE SPEAK, have SICK and DEAD horses, after using this

product with the SAME or SIMILAR symptoms as my horses. And they ALL

used this product, and NOT just my batch number but AT LEAST ONE

OTHER BATCH NUMBER TOO. Its sad to me that a little person like me

is being stepped on HARD by a animal health giant, when all I am

doing is trying to help my fellow horsepersons, and the horses they

love.

This is NOT an internet HOAX, as has been reported in some circles.

This is the REAL DEAL, my horses are SICK and DEAD, and others are

in similar condition with the same/similar symptoms. We are awating

on the necropsy results and anticipate that we will have them in a

few days.I have done everything I can with the advice of my attorney

and my vet. It is all I can do as a little person in a world full of

company giants. Kerry

Well, as I said, one reason I was initially so concerned is that I had used that SAME LOT NUMBER on all my minis (14) and my Nigerian Dwarf Goats last weekend. I always deworm more than what the animal needs. I give everyone 400#, when they really weigh between 200 - 300. Also, I accidently gave a 275 or so pound mare 800 pounds worth of Bimectin of the suspected lot number. I did this on Saturday and Sunday, and everyone is just fine.

So, I know what happened in my herd with those numbers of animals all "overdosed", and I know what the press release said. I would never want someone not to take the safety of their animals seriously, but I also know how these rumor spread and blossom on the internet.

Okay, I was thinking on this some more while doing my chores. At the risk of sounding like a stockholder in Bimeda (I'm not), this is my honest opinion. I do not feel a company would issue a press releasing saying they'd tested a product and found it in normal ranges as per the lable if this was not true.

At the rate I overdose on ivermectin dewormer, I have a years' worth to deworm 14 minis, 2 biggies, and 4 Nigerian Dwarf Goats. If I gave what the horses probably really nead, I bet it's more like an 18 month supply. Think how many other people also stock upon Bimectin! And think how valuable many horses are!!! Some are worth millions, really... If they thought "more" horses might die, and generate tremendous potential for liability, wouldn't they recall??? Horses have very easy to document value, unlike "regular" pets (harsh, but in a legal sense...).

Just being logical, and again based on my OWN FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE with this lot number on all my hooved creatures, I still think this rumor is based on a hoax. Anyone who knows me would know that the safety and health of my animals is not something I am casual about.

I have NO first hand knowledge of this incident, but I do not believe that the above statement is NOT necessarily true.

Not referring to this incident specifically, but I do not believe that companies are "above" . issuing statements to protect themselves from issues that would hurt them financially.

In my opinion it has happened before and will continue,. Unless they are backed into a corner. And then they will "admit to no wrong doing" because of the need to stay financially sound.

It's about the money.
