I have a friend who paints. She once commented to me that I must not like Art, as my walls are not loaded with paintings. She did not see my original sculpted vignettes as Art. Nor my carved wood, my handmade-handknapped arrows, my baskets, my quilts, my needlework samplers, my gourdfolk, nor my gorgeous buttons as Art. I find this a common opinion among many painters.

The iron buffalo in my avatar was made my son. I consider it Art and he is a Craftsman.

Can anyone deny the genius of color and construction of a quilt to be Art?

I consider myself strictly a crafter. If I do create something once in a while a little special, I might classify it as art, but basically I consider myself a crafter.

What do you consider Art? Are Crafts a type of Art?

To me... , be it quilts, painting, wood work and so on... is Art. It takes talent to do any of it!

I agree with Shari. To me is is ALL art! Some are only art and some are crafted type art but it's all art.

I love ALL of it!!!!!
