Atfer 2 years of flu like symptoms I was finally diagnoised with fibromyalgia & started Lyrica a little over a month ago. I've also started feeling like my right ear had water in it, you know...swimmers ear with a bit of pain. I feel like I am underwater or in a pain & just cant pop my right ear! Family doctor said my eustachian tube was blocked & use a OTC sinus pill. Didnt work, called back 3 weeks later ( it comes & goes) & they have me on a nasal spray. Today when I called in my first refill of Lyrica to the specialist (Neurologlist) I asked the Nurse if hearing loss was a side effect since it started about a week after starting the pills. They told me no, then called back & said it was a rare side effect, I would be the first one of their patients to mention it, but they did see it listed in their pamphlet. I would trade the hearing loss for the fact that I feel normal for the first time in two years ( no pain, I can sleep etc etc) but would like to talk from others taking Lyrica & if any of them have had hearing loss & what you have done to overcome it. (I plan to continue to follow up with an ear specialist if needed.)

For those of you that feel like someone beat you with a baseball bat when you get out of bed, and are shuffled from specialist to specialist, test to test only to feel like you are crazy & the pain is in your head- there is hope. Lyrica may not be for you, but there are other medications out there that can help you.

If you would like to email me my address is [email protected]

Debbie,

I lived with someone (my now Ex-boyfriend) who was on Lyrica for three years. He suffered from severe peripheral neuropathy in all four extremities and was prescribed Lyrica to help stop his legs from "jumping" at night when he would try to sleep. During the last year that we were together he complained of ringing in his ears and yes, I did notice that the TV sound was being turned up more and more. He is now living in Texas and his doctor there put him on Mirapex instead of Lyrica and he said it has helped his ringing in his ears quite a bit. Also, while on Lyrica he gained a substantial amount of weight which he is now loosing since he is now taking Mirapex.
