A friend brought pictures of her horse over for Easter. I said she is a very nice pinto. She said, no she isn't a pinto at all. She was told she didn't have enough white. Is this still true???? I thought that would consider her a pinto?

Would appreciate your thoughts.

I told her I would ask on Lil beginnings.

Hi, Nice mare. I'm no expert but even at that I say yes! And mind you that's JMO. I bet she could throw a pinto too.

What color are her parents? That could help.

Definitely pinto! Pintos can be so minimally marked, that there sometimes isn't even white on the body! That one definitely has a white mark and enough of it to qualify for the Pinto registry if the owner so desired.

My homozygous stallion's dam isn't listed as being pinto,

but she is obviously a minimal pinto pictured below

That looks JUST like a mare I had here for a short time. She had the SAME markings, same location, and she had a wildly marked 50/50 pinto colt by a solid sorrel stallion. Very much pinto.

How tall/old is the mare and what's her name (just curious if it could possibly be the same mare).
