Aggie Days is a fun, interactive way for urban school children to learn about agriculture. Every year for as long as I can remember we've taken horses down to meet the kids. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday school groups come through - approximately 10,000 students plus their teachers/volunteers over the three days. Saturday and Sunday are Family Fun Days, and on Saturday they told us there were between 17 and 18 thousand people that came through, and I'm guessing there was a similar number on Sunday.
First, Hawk had to have a haircut - he had way too much fur to be comfortable inside the hall for five days!

For the past 10 years or so, I've been on the volunteer committee that organizes Aggie Days. My job is to organize the horse display - we have a miniature horse, pony, light horse, and draft horse on display and several times a day we do a demo and talk about the different types and breeds of horses, and how to approach a horse safely.
A new addition to Aggie Days this year was the "Book Corner". Sponsored by Scholastic, there were celebrity story readers and free books for the kids! On Saturday and Sunday, Hawk was a celebrity reader for the kids. It got a lot of interest - was strange for me to look on Twitter and find pictures of Hawk and I!
Thursday morning Hawk also did a TV interview - the reporter was excited that he could answer her questions with a yes or no, she said it was her first time interviewing a horse!
