    Baiting

Fantastic ideas...I never thought of animal skins. Of course the mare pee will sure get his attention!lol I'm gonna try to get a few things and practice at home this week to see what works best. We have another training day on Sat with a fantastic trainer of Arabs who is getting into minis, so...

    Neck sweat alternatives

I made a belly sweat using an old neoprene back support, taking out the padded 'bars'. It works great, so maybe a neoprene knee wrap or similiar would work . Or try saran wrap under the leg wrap...but like you mentioned I wouldn't leave it on unattended.

    Baiting

While at a training day with our local club on Sunday one of the more experienced handlers mentioned that the 'pros' use a sponge soaked in 'something' to bait their horses in the ring to get them to give their heads and necks. He didn't know what the something was. Does anyone out there know...

Anyone have a dishwasher in the barn

What a great idea...I use the dishwasher in the house to do dog bowls which freaks out my son and husband, wonder what they'd think if I brought in the feed tubs! lol

Awesome video! And what a gorgeous leggy foal. Even in the still you can see his beautiful movement.

    Just curious...

I purchased both my minis sight unseen from a long distance away. It took me months to find the right horse, months more to get to know the breeder through emails and updated pictures. I spoke to probably 20 breeders who had great show records and beautiful horses and sometimes one phone call...

So much rain = no hay.......anyone else worried?

We have been very lucky here in GA too! The first cuts are now for sale and they are the same price as last year. We have had alot of rain, even at our farm. We live between two rivers and for some reason it effects how much rain we get. It can rain 10 miles North of us and 10 miles South...

    Sweating

Safe choice is 14% Protein, in fact almost exactly the same make up as Strategy. Normally I feed Beet pulp in the winter to the big guys but they did so well on the Safe Choice we disn't this year. I haven't fed it to the minis. Should I?

Could this colt be a dwarf?

I have a few questions about Dwarfs. Is there a test...i.e blood test to check for carriers etc? Does John have a website? I'd like to learn more. He seems in proportion to me for his age etc, very cute too!! just not super refined.

    Sweating

Thank you Indy'sMom. He is getting 2.5 lb of Safe Choice a day now. The pot belly started to show about a month after I got him from his breeder. She fed him a large blue coffee cup of Horseman's Edge a day and he looked great. I changed him to Plarform mini feed, thinking I was doing the...

    Sweating

I hope this pic works...but you see what I mean by big belly. These pics were before I changed feed so he is generally more filled out now. ( I will post more later if this works) but look at the belly! :DOH! He is lounged 4 times a week, sweated every night for 2 hours, on a scratch paddock...

    Sweating

I would love to post a pic of my colt but all the pictures I try to post are too big or something. Hubby says he'll try to fix this for me. I recently changed feeds from Platform to Safe Choice (another thread) as the platform caused them to lose weight but gave them big bellies. He is now...

    Sweating

I was hoping for some help on sweating my 2yr old colts tummy. I bought him a neoprene with fleece tummy sweat and he wears it 2 hours every evening after exercise. Is this enough? How long should you leave it on for at the most? should he wear it during lounging? and last of all, how long...

    Your experiences with Farnam grain

I, too, found my youngsters lost weight on it. They also had big bellies. It was quite shocking how fast they lost the weight, over about 3 weeks. I changed to Safe Choice by Nutrena and they are putting all their condition back on without the belly....(well exercise and sweating is getting...

    It Must Be Addictive!

Week before last we went to our first Mini show and I wanted to share our experiences with everyone. It all started on Thurs when we picked up our truck after it was repaired from a rear end collision in Feb and it looked like brand new! On Fri I packed and loaded and picked Steve up from...

    Opinion of mini...

I think she is very cute...but I am a newbie too so what do I know! lol Try to get hold of some Andis Cool Lube and spray your blades as often as they begin to get warm. (Test them on your wrist like a baby's bottle:))They will clip better and she will not fuss so much cuz they stay cool...
