    What stallion behavior is acceptable?

What do you tolerate in your boys? My colt is 3. He's VERY well behaved on the lead. He ties respectfully and listens well. 95% of the time. If there are geldings around...look out. He'd rather charge the fence then breed a mare in raging heat. He paws at the gate, rears. He never shares a...

    Showing stallions

What are the rules regarding testicle checking? Id like to show my stud but he's 'lopsided' due to dropping late. Even then he'll suck that little guy uo during moments of stress. He is also very poor about having his man bits touched. Is this behaviour taken into consideration? We'd like to...

How much weight should foals gain/.

My orphan filly is thriving. She is drinking goat's milk from a bowl 4 times per day, and eating her grain and hay, and of course drinking water. My vet has suggested that we weigh her weekly so we can adjust her milk consumption. They want her to continue on milk until she is 5-6 months old...

    Registration lookups?

My uncle gave me a mini mare but he's lost her papers. Is there a way to ask for AMHA to do a dna search? She's been exposed to the stallion Little Horseshoe Torpedos Lightning. Is there a database for pedigrees?

    AMHA Lookups?

After a very long absence, I am back over here to ask a favour. I sold my 2 minis years ago, and now that I have my own child, I am really regretting that. They would have been perfect for him! Is there any way (I'm not sure if this is allowed...) someone can look and see if they are still...

Thyroid and r.equi issue in broodmare?

Hi guys! :saludando: Gosh, it's been awhile since I've been on here. I have a big favor to ask of everyone. I have a big mare that's been a broodmare since she was 4 (she's 8 now) due to a pasture injury as a baby. She's had 4 wonderful foals for me, although sadly we lost her 2006 foal...

    Enlarged thyroid in newborn?

Last Thursday my (big horse) mare foaled a HUGE colt. He was 43" at birth, and quite hefty. He was hard to pull out, took two of us. The moment he was born I noticed that his thyroid was quite enlarged. When the vet came to do his check up the next morning, she confirmed the abnormal...

    Getting another dog

I recently had to put down my beloved Springer Spaniel, Wally, due to cancer. He was in surgery, and it looked like we would be able to remove to tumour, but he started to bleed, and unfortunately there was nothing the vets could do. He was only 3. I am absolutely devastated, and cannot talk...

    Sales contracts

I was wondering if any of you could share copies of your sales contracts with me. I sold a foal on terms. The baby will stay with me until 1/2 of the balance is paid off, and then he goes to his new home. I've checked out references, and he is going to be very close to good friends of mine...

    Chasing down your money...

I sold a mare back in Feb to a wonderful lady. She really didnt have much money, so I let her do payments. I gave her two months to try the mare, and then another month to pay her off (I sold her for $500 Canadian....so I thought this was plenty of time...) She conatcted me to tell me that...

    Intoducing our new foal.....

Here are some pictures of our last foal of the year. Dolly was born Saturday night at 11:30. The vet gave her a clean bill of health today. She is exactly what I wanted, chestnut filly with white on her face. Her dad is silver bay with no white, and her mom is chestnut with a small star...

    It's a girl!!

Diamond showed ALL the signs today, and gave us a beautiful filly at 11:30pm on Saturday evening. The birth went very fast, and baby seems to have lots of energy and character. She is a little slow to nurse. Mom is having a bit of a rough time with cramps, and her udder is FULL and dripping...

She's waxing, but is it too early??

According to my breeding dates, Diamond is somewhere between day 303 and 317 days. Last year she had her foal in March at 329 days. I worry that it is too early since she held to 329 last year (although is was a VERY tight squeeze). She's been waxing on and off for a week (had was in the pm...

    They're home!!!

Well, they are finally home!! I had never actually seen my foal (excpet pictures), so combined with the fact that he has a broken nose, I had no idea what to expect. I am happy to report that I am just absolutely IN LOVE with this foal. He is such a great kid. I am really unhappy with the...

    Raising an orphan foal

We've decided to separate my mare anf oal because of my mare's agressive behaviour towards her colt. He is 3 weeks old, he's been stepped on too many time to count, pushed through the fence by his momma, and the last straw was when she kicked him in the face, breaking his nose. He will have a...

    Agressive mare with her foal...

Some of you may remember the drama surrounding my TB mare and her strange behaviour towards her foal. Pawing at him, being agressive towards him, etc. We put them out on 24/7 turnout, and things were great until this weekend. Zoey kicked her foal right in the head, and broke his nose. He...
