Can anyone tell me how to get WiFi on a laptop?

Sorry, I should explain my post--my daughter just got a new laptop and she is trying to figure out how to use the WiFi not how to get it.

Is she in range of a Wifi connection ?

The computer pretty much does it all by itself. She might have to go into control panel and check on it. (wireless connections)

On our laptop, we have a verizon aircard and it runs from its own wifi, the only hitch is you need a slot in the side of your computer
