How often do you guys wash your minis manes and tails?

Only for shows.

1-3 times a year and always use a conditioner.

just my own experience since I only tried to show once LOL. People who show and present their horses to the public for instance visits to schools and nursing homes and such do theirs regularly.

.. myself I have washed them before but what I do is just groom them well. Manes and tails I do mostly only with my fingers to keep from pulling and breaking the hair.

I do vacuum my horses topline / roots of the mane which is wonderful! to get out all the dirt and dander. I curry the body well and keep the base of the mane and dock of the tail debris free and then the hair looks healthy. I do the deep vacuuming at least twice a year.

I do for the 5 club shows I do each year and a couple of times beyond that in the fall/winter. Well, in the fall/winter I just do the tail to get the nasty out. With 4 mares, that's a lot of nasty and I like to get out regularly.
