Trouble with my Favorites List

For whatever reason ever since I turned on my computer this morning, whenever I open my favorites list, something called a search companion comes up. It takes over most of the list, so much that I can only see one link at the top. I cant shrink it or close it. Does anyone know what it is & what I can do to get rid of it?

Sounds like you've been attacked by adware.

Do a Google search on the search companion adware and how to remove it and you will find out what you need to go through.

What happens is that you inadvertently must have (or someone that uses your computer) clicked a link that has software that downloads to your computer, changing certain settings (common ones change your "home" page (the first page that loads when you open a browser), and your toolbar settings, but it can also do other quite harmful things within your computer.

SOME of them make registry changes which are a PITA to get rid of, but the search should help.
