Don`t you wish there were more (MANY MORE) equind dentists.

Where oh where do you find a dentist in Pa or one that is traveling through? I want to have my whole herd checked again and can not find any one to do this. I know Carl Mitz travels too big farms but is very hard t pin down. He is SO busy. I wish he could train a few dozen more, like him. We NEED more dentists. Wish I were younger, I might take up a new profession.

when i lived in illinois we used gary fluehr and he does travel but now im trying to figure out who to get in ohio. I hate looking for a dentist and I have found most veternarians DO NOT like to do dental

My dentist is of course in Texas; but, she is from Pa and she went to vet school at U of Pa; she may have a referral for you. Wouldn't hurt to email her and ask her. Her name is Dr. Cari Neiderman and her web site is: http://www.ceqdm.com/index.htm

good luck!

Thank you very much. Does she come to your farm or do you take your horses to her? I WILL check with her. Maybe she comes back to visit Pa?? ;)

I'm very fortunate in that our Vet does do teeth and does them well, he took a lot of additional training and has all the power tools needed. We can either haul to his clinic or have him come to the farm.

:saludando: Hi!

If you would like, I could try to find out for you. I have to go back to work here in a sec... and will be home today, later on, after 4pm...... But my step-dad gets the equine dentistry magazine which list allot of equine dentist from ALL over the world and US. We also get tons of dental equipment in from Vets and equine dentist to fix or replace..... So I can ask the secretary when I get back to work if there's anyone from PA that we do business with. I'd ask my step-dad..... but he's in TX right now at the college in Weatherford, TX. There is a equine dental school there, a new class just started and he always goes down each time they have a new class to take the new floats and stuff down there. Anyways..... But I'll try to get one located for you!

My wonderful vet that I love for other things, can float the sides of the teeth and that is actually usually all they need....... but it drives me nuts wondering if anything else needs done like hooks at the back or anything. I would LOVE to have my whole herd of 28 horses done at once with a complete dental check.

I agree that I wish we had lots more Carl Mitz's!

He is much more reasonably priced than most of the vets I have found that also do dentistry.

I have driven a few times with one or two horses to the next town over, more than 100 miles from here.

I have also tried different lady vets in the next State over who do dentistry! All were so expensive.

But I simply can't afford to have my whole herd done at $100 to $250 per horse! And when I asked folks who highly recommend Carl after having had him at their farms....... he is not only SOOO Good at what he does, but also MUCh more reasonably priced!

I am always on a search for an equine dentist like him that could come to my farm!

For now I take any horse that shows signs of needing a dentist to a specialist in another town and have my own vet float the side points off regularly on the others.

Nancy, she is strickly a mobile equine dentist; she comes to her clients always. Her parents do live back east somewhere but I doubt she travels with her rig; it's a big dually truck and then her mobile chute she trailers behind her; it's a real cool looking set up; it folds down when traveling and then she powers it up and it moves into place; it's all adjustable for large and small equine.

Good luck! I did email her and told her your farm name and that you may be emailing her for referrals.

I use a dentist here in texas that also does travelling but I am not quite how far.

She has been very reasonable for me. She does both my minis and my big horses. She does everything to educate me when she does the teeth. I wouldn't trade her for a hundred Carls. No offense. You can google her "North Texas Equine Dentistry" and her name is Dena Corbin.

: I primarily use Carl, but Gary has been here a few times too, when Carl wasn't available. (I'm in SW Ohio, btw)

Ok everyone needs to check the universities that offer vet classes and check with your vet on if any one does the school. I am lucky that we have a equine dental school 45 minutes away, and if you bring horses in during school it is free. They also can come to your farm but they do have some charges that way. He is close enough and we have a big enough trailer and our friend has a large trailer so we load everyone up and take them in!! The only money we spend is for gas and our lunch!! :bgrin

Hi!

I did find 3 equine dentist in PA and one vet. Also... I could look up anyone else's state if they wanted me to to see if I could locate them a equine dentist or vet that is a practicing equine dentist. Carl Mitz is suppose to be headed for CO sometime soon.... He's going to be up in NE this November to deer hunt here on our property (lots of deer!)....... I am hoping Carl will do my 2 broodmares that just got missed since they were so close to foaling! I am ansious to see Carl's dentistry work!!! He's also very good at making excellent barbaque meat!!! He sent my step-dad up some samples around X-Mas that was out of this world!!

lol!
