I agree with the advice given by Carin and the others, our Vet was very explicit about no antibiotics being used on the standard run of cases.

I called him a few minutes ago to make sure I had understood him correctly. As he said as terrible as it looks, simple hydration of the wound area, time, clean surrounding and proper husbandry to prevent secondary infection and no use of antibiotics without the express instructions of your Vet is the route to go here.

Good Luck with this stuff, it will pass and you will be be an expert in handling it by the time you are finished with it. LOL
