I am curious about the size (diameter) of round pen that you use for working/training/conditioning your Miniature Horses. I did search the forum and there were no particularly recent topics about the size (diameter) of round pens. I have a 60 foot portable round pen and I feel that it is just too big for working Miniature Horses. I would love to know what is working well for everyone else.

Mine is about 35 feet in diameter for the minis. For a shetland I would say no smaller that 40 feet.

Ours is 40' and I do like that better than the 50' one I've worked minis in

Mine is 50' and is okay. At times the little ones take advantage of the distance and try to trim the edges making ovals instead of circles but once they have more experience they usually give that up. Best part of a larger round pen is I can do long line work there when I start it and there is plenty of room until they are clear on the cues.
