registering minis

Now this could be obvious to you but I am so confused!

We have registered full-sized horses in pinto but not minis. I want to register a pinto mini into Pinto/PtHA(Or anyother association or registry for that matter!) and I want to know how and what I need to have/know. If some one could tell me what I need to have/know please help.

You need to have thier background (dam, sire, grand dam, grand sire) right?

so confused
