I know this is way off topic But we have such a widely experienced group I'm hoping someone knows the answer to this.
We have had Ravens nesting in the trees in front of our house for most of the last 20 years. They have never caused us any problems till this year.
Starting this spring the Ravens picked up all the horse hair that they had shed to line there nest. They have done this before but not to this extent. Then the little ravens when they started flying came down on our porch to eat the left over cat food. [This is not much of a problem except for all the bird poop left behind, but we could live with that.]
Now the big birds are leaving picked over carcasses in the horse trough's! Every day they leave something else! Guts, Baby birds, Snakes, Skins, etc...
It's been suggested that they may be "Gifting" these things to us or the horses for providing food or the hair.
My question s how to make it stop!
Besides having to clean and scrub the water troughs every day, I don't want my horses drinking from this fouled water. And our biggest expense living here is water. I'm having to waste about 15 gallons each day.
We have not ever had this problem before. I have tried moving the water, and tried putting an umbrella over the tank to keep them from seeing it from above. I have also started putting out small buckets of water so that I'm not dumping so much.
I'm running out of ideas! DR
