Actually they're suppose to go shorter. There is a foaling calculator that works off the mares age. But honestly I've never noticed a great difference. One mare was a month early with a full term foal (she was 19-20) but I've not noticed an exaggerated time difference based on age.

This year though everything is up for grabs. I had a mare go 349 days this year. My mares average 330-335 in general.

The vet came out for pre foaling shots last week and said

to hunker in.

Trend, because of the extreme heavy cloud cover we've had this

spring, is for later babies....

Then I heard on the news that birds and plants, appearing, are

as much as 4 weeks late this spring.

Maybe it's all tied in.

Zoe is within the window for her normal foaling dates and is

not looking ready, at all, so maybe there something to this

theory.
