What would a homozygeous "black" and a homozygeous "red" horse produce for colors?Would it be like a bay?? I was just thinking about this radomly and was wondering if any of you knew

All red horses are homozygous for red, because red is recessive and if they have a black gene, it will show.

So a homozygous black and a red horse will have some form of black-based foal, that carries the red gene.

Yup - What Lori Said! Also if the Red horse was carrying agouti (which can't been seen on red base) and passed that on to the foal then they could have a bay.

and if you wanted to get any deeper if the sire was actually a smokey black, and passed the cream gene down, along with the mom passing down the agouti, they could have a buckskin!
