I have just been sitting back and reading the goings on of the forum at the time of this election.

I haven't wanted to get involved in any discussions so far as A) Im not even an American and B) Im still considered a youth here on the forum ( I am 18)

However I came across this video a while back and felt the need to share it here. I have always been astounded with the amount of mothers that are SO Pro- Obama on this forum. I just dont get it.

Anyway, here is a LINK to the video.

It seems that Mr Obama views parent-hood as more of a life sentence than a gift and vocation. I don't know how this man can be trusted to make choices for the future americans and protect his nation when this is his outlook.

To paraphrase, he says 'I have two daughters, who I will first teach morals, but if they make a mistake, I don't want them to be punished, with a baby.'

If Obama sees babies as a punishment, I wonder how he can respect the role of motherhood at all? I wonder if the Obama girls would ever be given the opportunity to make their own minds up as to wether or not they considered the life of their own child a punishment if they ever make a mistake??

Helen --

I really think that if Obama is elected, very quickly America will realize he's not the nice guy and modern day Robin Hood they think he is now. It's very discouraging that with all the information available about the type of person he is (inexperienced, questionable judgement, socialistic ideas, etc.) so many Americans are buying what he's selling... and I think it's because he's a good, motivating speaker. But think about it -- so were Jim Jones and Hitler.

Helen,

Obviously the video link was from a very "pro-life" source, so the emotional aspect supporting that stance was included.

However, Obama has indeed voted for a bill that supported Partial Birth Abortions. That is a fact. And yes, his quote of stating that if his daughters make a mistake he doesn't want them to be punished with a baby is upsetting to me too.

McCain has made his feelings of supporting Pro-Life, very clear..........

These are things to think about while going to the polls. People will say that one man as president cannot sway our national laws.......I beg to differ. There is one major way a president's personal ideology can affect things and that is through appointing the Supreme Court Judges. There could very possibly up to THREE judges' positions who will need to be replaced in the next 4 years.

Just stuff to think about.........

Good for you Helen for being such a mature 18 year old.

I, too, had a problem with him referring to a baby as "punishment" and you've got a very valid point when you wonder if his daughters would have a right to make up their own minds about their baby.

NEVERMIND, apparently my best friend has to attack me on everything I will post..

Helen, you are wise beyond your years, and have a very good start to a very productive life!

So most of you don't want to pay higher taxes to pay for people on welfare or people here illegally from other countries. So When 3,000 babies are born A DAY to people like these, how many are you willing to adopt??? 5, 10, 30??? Or will you turn away and just say how rotten their parents are?

Is it just possible that if welfare weren't so readily available that maybe there wouldn't be so many pregnancies? Let's face it.....not so many years ago there weren't many preventative measures.....now you can get any number of them free.

This is the best statistic I can find right now and is over 18 months old but at that time there were

119,000 children waiting to be adopted. That did not include kids who were making their way through the system just those currently up for adoption at that time so obviously the numbers are far greater. That is frightening to me.

Bingo that is just it. Most people don't want to adopt children that may be have severe physical or mental problems. Or drug addiction or anger problems. They would rather that they are born to be abused or neglected so that they feel good that they told someone what to do.

So Crabby-Chicken...What you are saying is that these children, these lives that are waiting to be adopted or are on welfare etc would have been better off for being murdered instead of given life, given a chance?

Where there is life, there is hope. If these children were aborted as fetus' they would never have been given even the opportunity to change their lives and become good people. I wonder how many adults there are who have come from bad childhoods and are now living great lives. Just think, that they may never have been given that chance.

The solution should not be killing these children pre-birth before they become a "problem" but rather helping them after they are born.

Very well said, Helen!

Crabby and Bingo, maybe if people took personal responsibility more seriously, they'd stop doing what they do to make children they cannot afford and/or do not actually want...

My feelings about personal responsibility are the biggest reason I'm a republican. There are far too many Americans just waiting for Uncle Sam to take care of them, vs. deciding to do all they can to take care of themselves.

Ditto Jill!

People do not take responsibility for their actions/choices and that's the biggest problem in America IMO.

Helen you have NO idea how badly I wanted to ask that question!! I had to force myself to walk away from that one!

As far as taking responsibility is concerned...that's the point I was making about contraceptives. How many of you have had baby after baby without considering whether or not we could provide for them? Shoot you don't even have foals without regard for their future.

I guess maybe after next week we'll no longer hear the term "Uncle Sam". It just might be Uncle Barack....or maybe Uncle Robin.

That is the sad truth

Too bad he couldn't just teach his children about what to do not to get pregnant.

I so agree with Jill and Helen! I am sickened to hear a candidate for presidency refer to a baby as punishment! I was born with Spina Bifida and yes I have had lots of problems and my parents divorced and had lots of extra troubles raising me but when things like that happen, you take responsiblity and go on! Life has not always been easy but it is always worth it! There are so many people wanting to adopt babies if half of the people who have abortions would have them and put them up for adoption they would have wonderful homes with people who love them!

We need to pray that Americans will make the right choice. I know I am. Sheila

Helen,,,

I absolutely agree teaching people and helping them get birth control is the way it should be. But USUALLY one of the programs that some republicans will cut first thing is how not to get into that situation. They want to tell them "Say No to Sex." How well does that work? And yes, I think that if a child is going to be born to be abused and abandoned it should not have to suffer. If there were enough loving homes and people to make their lives wonderful it would be perfect.I do not consider it murder until they are born. Sorry. All children should come into this world and not have to worry about food being safe or loved. And if you have worked in a school recently you can see how many kids have a person in the world that cares about what happens to them. If I could magically fix that I sure would, be that isn't going to happen. I can never imagine using my beliefs to make someone have a child that will live a life of pain.
