when I called a friend who was there, they said the highest selling horse so far was 1200. a couple of 1/2 brothers to my Dukey Doo was going for 600. wow, babies out of Supreme Dream.

The thing that hurt that horse was that his height was very questionable. Also, during the sale he attempted to exit the area via my lap !
I have a couple of bruises in the shape of hoofprints in a very personal area !!!!!
It is a shame!!
Yet I am a firm believer that a horse is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Right now with the economy what it is these horses are only worth these prices today!! 5 yrs earlier and probably 5-10 yrs from now they may be worth thousands!! We can only keep our fingers crossed that prices will start to creep up soon!!

I started laughing when I got to the part about missing the sale price because of getting attacked by a buckskin pinto son of Buckeroo that sold for $1600. Hopefully it wasn't anything serious...What happened?

Man - you are SO lucky you weren't seriously hurt! I wasn't able to get anywhere close to help, but he pretty much just ran right over you! Luckily only the chair was broken, but I bet you'll feel it in the morning. Kind of weird how they had it set up. I would think they would have had a ring made up of the panels. The one young man by the exit gate kept the horses wired by not letting them by him without tapping them or flicking the whip! I'm glad you are OK.
Congrats to those who bought. I was a good girl and sat on my hands. I ALMOST bid on the palomino colt and the sorrel filly. Congrats to whoever got those!

Those are sad-sad prices...actually made me feel sick to read them...
What makes me even sadder...is to see so many of the mares bred...so you pay less than $1000 for a bred mare with a colt at her side...what does that make the foal "worth". Why bother breeding them??

I do think that so many of them being sold on "application" probably hurt the prices. People are very wary of buying horses on application.

If this doesn't prove to anyone that the miniature market is hurting then your not in reality.
True these horses are selling on application that didn't help. Also if these horses just weren't bringing in money cause they aren't "quality" that sure wouldn't help.
BUT back in 5 years ago these horses would have been brought in ALOT of money. This is a sign that people, even big farms, need to breed less and go for quality. As someone has already mentioned if you breed for quality and not quantity you will get alot more. Hopefully more people have not bred and more of these quality horses will make the $ amount. Just don't expect what you would have gotten 5 years ago.
