Okay, I want a foal. When I bred mares last year I figured 1 foal in Feb, 1 in March, 2 in April, one in May and one in June. Well, it's the middle of April and I haven't had one yet.

I have mares at 373 days, 350, 330, 318, 299 and then the mare due in June. Now I'm afraid one will foal and all the rest will decide to foal at the same time.

How true this is. Even the same mare can vary widely.

I have a friend that just got into minis. She is not new to horses, but she has two mares bred on the same day. She took a week off work a few weeks ago, expecting them to "go" on their due date, which was the same day. Needless to say, the week off came and went, and the mares are still waiting to foal...I feel for her, it is not easy to have a job you have to go away from home to, and have mares to foal out (she did not breed them).

Hopefully they will oblige her when she has a few days off in the near future.

Same here. One of my mares seemed to be ready any moment, watched her very closely day and night.

Between we got 2 colts, 6 fillies and LA Desert Song is still in foal.
