I purchased a mini mare 2 months ago...as she was in full winter fur,i did not notice the lumps til yesterday. She has one that is about 2x3,firm to touch, and a few smaller.i accidentally found them while brushing her this morning, she flinched when I hit them. I dont know if maybe she could have been kicked or bitten in the past and it caused this.the hair is fine over them, they are just raised up.unless you feel, you cant see them. Has anyone had anything like this before..there are 3 small, and the one large lump.thanks!!

I brought a mare in last month to bath and clip off her winter woolies, never noticed any lumps when brushing, but once I started clipping she had two, one on her neck, one under her chin. It was ticks imbedded. Once I pulled them off the lumps went away, but your mare may have been bitten of kicked. Maybe you could try clipping and make sure though that it isn't ticks.
