Our sweet filly is just starting the new show season here in NZ.

She is doing everything really well, showing expression and interest and setting up well enough for her inexperienced handler. Her neck and throat expression and alert eyes show she is very interested and keen when Anna sets her up, but she just won't put her ears forward! (She is not really giving us evil glares....

Then a really bizarre thing happens.....she goes to sleep. Not all the time, but a lot. Her eyes close and she drifts off.

We have tried food, minty smells, more food, making strange sounds..... but not an ear forward so far!

Does anyone have any ideas how to get this girls ears forward?

Thanks!

On a less-serious note I think that y'all two need some girl time and have talks about the hottest new studs in town and the best halters to show off her pretty little face to catch the guy's attention.

But other than that I have no clue!

There are lots of little tricks that the trainers and photographers use...like crinkly cellophane from cig. packs, wearing gloves that are kept buried in a bag of alphalfa, holding your pet cat or dog, using a full length mirror, etc. ('Course you can't do that in the ring LOL) Good luck with her.
