There are plenty more horses out there that we want to rescue. But here's the ongoing problem: Not enough foster homes. Our foster homes are full and have remained full. A couple of them have dropped off and are getting out of horses and others due to health reasons also. When we get a horse that needs to come into CMHR, Shannon hits the files to see where we can put a horse and the foster application files are very thin. There is also that big picture of horses that come in groups and small herds that we cannot even begin to house anywhere due to lack of foster homes. Those horses who are involved in that kind of situation need to be divided up in several homes so that one person is not overwhelmed with too many. So many times Connie will bring up a case and say to us "I'd love to get these horses into our care" and then she will ask "Where are we supposed to put them?" So you see, its not only a case of money. We cannot move forward as we would like when we have no where to put the horses.

I admit we are pretty fussy about who we will accept as a foster care giver and we do have rules to follow. We also ask you to provide us with pictures of your place and where our horse will be residing. On our foster application, you can pick and choose the type of horse you prefer to foster and we will fully disclose everything we know about the horse before we send him to you. If you don't want to sign up for a horse that is injured or needs doctoring, or needs any special over the top care, that's fine also. If on the other hand you want to foster a horse that is a challenge, we get those too. Let us know your specialty if you have one: Do you train, do you drive, can you do beauy makeovers? If you want to offer to do some training of your own, that's a plus and helps make our horses more adoptable the more they know, but we will not send you the type of horse you do not want. If you can take just one horse to foster for us, that would help so much. They all need a place to live until someone will adopt them.

You will find our foster care application on the menu on the left side of our website at:

Thank you.
