I have a gelding that I want to register with AMHR. I would like to contact the original breeder to see if his parents were R registered.

Any help would be appreciated.

Or is there a way to look up his parents in a directory for AMHR?

They show a web page but it seems to be way out of day. There is an email address on the page that you might want to try.

Aside from that, if you know the names of the parents there are those on this forum that have access to the AMHR studbook and can check for you.
