hi,

i have put this little horse of mine on her before for critique but i just got some updated pics of him from a recent show - his first show. (just been gelded) black? 7 month old gelding. he is 29". he got given to me by a friend

just want peoples honest opinions, if you personally would bother showing him. what do you think his faults are and what do you think i should do to improve his looks?

I won't even hazard a guess with babies. They change so much as they grow. Here are a couple of things I see: nice short head, neck has good length but ties in low (to chest), front legs and chest look good, the picture of the back legs looks like it's off-does he usually stand like that or is it just the picture? It's really hard to get good pics.

He doesn't look like the type of horse to show in halter right now. If it was me I'd enjoy his "babyhood", teach him basic ground manners and take him with you whenever you can. Get him used to clippers, baths, walks, other horses, other people and funny noises. A horse that's been well handled and is a joy to be around is my goal.

Best of luck!

I would certainly show him locally, if nothing else than for the experience for both of you. He may not be material for showing at nationals or for sending out to a trainer/handler, but the two of you could have great fun together! Depending on how he develops, he could grow into a nice performance horse, and the initial show experience would be a great start.
