Hi - Well, I've decided I'm totally confused about what kind of dewormer to give to my mini (first one). She is two years old. I've read you're supposed to alternate dewormers, but the vet here recommended to use Strongid only (not the daily) for minis. ?? What do you use and when? Thanks much!

We do the 6 times per year rotation. We've had great luck with it.

(These are the drug names)

January- 5 Day Fenbendazole

March- Ivermectin

May- Pyrantel Pamoate

July- Oxibendazole

Septmeber- Ivermectin w/ Praziquantel

November- Pyrantel Pamoate

I do not rotate.

I use Ivermectin as a base and add the 5 day Fenbendazole (which does not get all the worms on it's own, so it is a good idea not to use it on it's own) twice a year, Spring and Fall, and the Praziquantel for Tapeworms also twice a year. I worm every eight weeks.

I worm every 8 weeks (6 times/year)

Fenbendazole (5-day double dose)

Eqvalan Gold (Ivermectin/Praziquantel) or just Ivermectin

Pyrantel Pamoate (Exodus)

Then start over...
