This may sound strange. But. I have a 6 year old black mare with Appy in her background. She is starting to have a little white show up on her face. But here is the question. Each winter the hair growing out of her ears is always white. Is this usual for a black horse? Any comments on this will be welcomed

Her first baby had a blanket but she was bred to a few spot Appy. This year she is bred to a bay pinto, I cannot wait to see what this baby looks like.

I think the color of the winter ear hair is just the winter undercoat that helps them with insulation. I do not think it is important from a horse color standpoint.
