I am posting this for my friend she wants to know what color to put on his registration. Sire is a Silver dapple pinto and Dam is a bay.

Any help please.

Thanks Carlene

Well....the "color" is Chesnut (or Sorrel, if you prefer).

The pinto "pattern" is Tobiano with either Splash or Sabino. The chin white is indicative of the Sabino gene. Sabino also puts the even "normal" looking facial white markings, more so than Splash. Horses with Splash usually have wild, off center facial white markings & blue eyes.

He is sorrel / chestnut (interchangable). He may well carry silver but on his color, you won't see it. Silver is not visible on red based horses even if they carry it.

Chestnut/sorrel pinto! I agree that the pinto coloring is probably tobiano + sabino. He just HAS to have silver hidden in there, I would guess. Whatever he is, he is certainly a beautiful boy!
