I know theres a solid class and a colored class. If you have a minimal Appy they may have some roaning but no actual spots are they solid or colored? You may also have just a regular roan horse is it considered solid? What if you have a grey pinto but has turned all white so now it wouldnt be considered a pinto in the colored class even though it infact is a pinto? how much white does a pinto have to have to be considered a pinto?

One thing to keep in mind is if your papers say "appy" or "pinto" you MUST show in multi color. Even if your horse has little appy or pinto markings or is a grey you must go into multi color.

A roan horse with no pinto would go in solid colored class.

A minimally marked pinto or appy probably wont do well in multi color class. Some like to enter anyway especially with a new show horse just to get them used to going in the ring

Our silver dappled filly showed last year in the multi-coloured class (even though she only had faint mottling around her eyes and nose and no other signs of being an appaloosa) and finished second (behind our pinto stallion) in a fairly large class (10-15 horses)! At other shows, she didn't place at all!! It looks like it really does come down to what the judge likes-if they are into pintos-the minimal appaloosas won't do well, if they prefer solid colour they will.
