Chronic Snotty Nose/Drooling

We recently acquired a little stallion that has had the same problem with a runny/snotty nose his whole life (from what I am told). He has chronic snotty nose that is usually the same color as his feed, as well as that he drools when he is worked. He has been checked for a cleft palate and that is not the case. We plan to have a vet check him out soon, but thought I would ask here and see if anyone has experienced this?

I am interested to see what the vet says - being all his life like this I am not sure.. my first thought (before reading all the post) was check for infected or impacted tooth... or sinus infection but if hes had this a long time and seen a vet then maybe not.
