Black horses changing colour

I have a yearling colt that is solid black no Motteling, he does have a black appy sire. I am assuming he is going to stay black. That is great with me but I noticed some white hairs on his flank the other day.

Does this mean he will change or is it just a few white hairs appearing for no reason??

IME when a horse goes Appy- which it can easily do at almost any age- I have known of six year olds change- they normally will do it around the head and eyes, first, not the flanks.

This is NOT to say they have to, though, only that it is normal for this to happen.

There are actually NO rules when it comes to Appying out, so I would just keep an eye on things and you never knopw.........
