Woke up this morning to being "a little uncomfortable" in my mouth which proceeded to worsen during the day to a full blown tooth ache coming from my two front teeth, oh lovely. Having worked for a dentist for years, I realize I might be abcessing. I'm also in SEVERE PAIN and I'm starting to swell up a little tiny bit.

Beings as how my dentist has moved away, I'll have to wait until Monday am to start calling around for another one.

Manwhile does anyone happen to know of any home made remedys for this? I've been brushing and flossing my brains out all day long. I've got orajel extra strength and tylenol and so far, these are not doing anything to relieve any of the pain or pressure.

Anyone have any ideas???

Is it something you can go to the ER for? I haven't had tooth aches, but I have had ear aches so bad they made me cry as an adult. I have heard that nothing hurts like a toothache or an ear ache. For my ear, a heating pad or blow dryer helped (heat eased the pain).

Short of medical intervention, my remedy suggestion is booze but you CANNOT have that now that you have taken tylenol (it can cause severe liver damage combined with tylenol).

Hope you are feeling much better soon.

No our ER is not fit for a headache.......and this is a dry county, no booze anywhere......

Try washing your mouth out with some warm salt water - it might take some of the inflammation out.

Good luck Marty.

This was forwarded to me a few days ago, thought I would pass it along.

Marty...check out number 10 on the list for toothaches. I have not tried

any of these yet, but thought it might help you.

Good luck and hope you feel better soon. :saludando:

The health benefits of 3% peroxide.

"I would like to tell you of the benefits of that plain little old

bottle of 3% peroxide you can get for under $1.00 at any drug store. My husband

has been in the medical field for over 36 years, and most doctors don't

tell you about peroxide, or they would lose thousands of dollars."

1. Take one capful (the little white cap that comes with the bottle)

and hold in your mouth for 10 minutes daily, then spit it out.

(I do it when I bathe.) No more canker sores and your teeth will be whiter without

expensive pastes. Use it instead of mouthwash.

(Small print says mouth wash and gargle right on the bottle)

2. Let your toothbrushes soak in a cup of "Peroxide" to keep them free

of germs.

3. Clean your counters, table tops with peroxide to kill germs and

leave a fresh smell. Simply put a little on your dishrag when you wipe,

or spray it on the counters.

4. After rinsing off your wooden cutting board, pour peroxide on it to

kill salmonella and other bacteria.

5. I had fungus on my feet for years - until I sprayed a 50/50 mixture

of peroxide and water on them (especially the toes) every night and let

dry.

6. Soak any infections or cuts in 3% peroxide for five to ten minutes

several times a day. My husband has seen gangrene that would not heal

with any medicine, but was healed by soaking in peroxide.

8. Fill a spray bottle with a 50/50 mixture of peroxide and water and

keep it in every bathroom to disinfect without harming your septic

system like bleach or most other disinfectants will.

9. Tilt your head back and spray into nostrils with your 50/50 mixture

whenever you have a cold, or plugged sinuses. It will bubble and help

to kill the bacteria. Hold for a few minutes then blow your nose into a

tissue.

10. If you have a terrible toothache and cannot get to a dentist right

away, put a capful of 3% peroxide into your mouth and hold it for ten

minutes several times a day. The pain will lessen greatly.

11. And of course, if you like a natural look to your hair, spray the

50/50 solution on your wet hair after a shower and comb it through. You will

not have the peroxide burnt blonde hair like the hair dye packages, but

more natural highlights if your hair is a light brown, faddish, or dirty

blonde. It also lightens gradually so it's not a drastic change.

12. Put half a bottle of peroxide in your bath to help rid boils,

fungus, or other skin infections.

13. You can also add a cup of peroxide instead of bleach to a load of

whites in your laundry to whiten them. If there is blood on clothing,

pour directly on the soiled spot. Let it sit for a minute, then rub it

and rinse with cold water. Repeat if necessary.

14. I use peroxide to clean my mirrors with, and there is no smearing

which is why I love it so much for this.

I could go on and on. It is a little brown bottle no home should be

without! With prices of most necessities rising, I'm glad there's a way

to save tons of money in such a simple, healthy manner.

Regarding peroxide - I recently read that it is good for killing mold.

im so sorry marty. whole cloves put in between the gum and lip will numb the pain. you can even use clove powder. clove is a top ingredient in a lot of toothache pain relievers.

Marty, I hope you are feeling a little better. Sorry I don't have anything new to add as far as home remedies, but do know I am thinking about ya.

My dear hubby gets absesses from his teeth regularly (darn genetics anyway!!) and her swears by clove oil. Just dip a Q-tip in clove oil and gently rub the tooth with the oil. But be careful as overdoing can cause burns.

Hope you are feeling better soon!!

Hi Marty-

You've already gotten some great advice with both the peroxide and the oil of cloves.

Is there any way you can call your Doctor to prescribe you an antibiotic if you think it's an abcess??

Also, listerine is great for killing germs. Really hold an amount in place for as long as you can. If you think it's between your teeth, dip the listerine in the floss.

Good luck calling around. You can pm me, or drop me an email. I'll try to help you with whatever questions you have.

Old Swiss Remedy: Take "whole clove", place it on the affected area (gently biting down to secure the clove). I leave it in about an hour.....which generally helps. If not, grab another clove for the second go-round.

It's Monday morning and I can't get into a dentist the earliest until Wednesday pm. auuuuuuuuuukkkkkkkk So I'll suck it up until then. They'll call me if they get any cancellations.

Thanks for all these suggestions. I need them~ I'm doing most of them and they are working but don't last very long. Except I can't handle anymore orajel.....it's making me sick......... :smileypuke: I've been walking around with it in my pocket squirting it left and right and over did it.
