I've never had to DNA a horse before for parent qualifications. I was late with my stallion reports this year (my bad). The DNA kits are on their way to me, but one of the horses will more than likely be gone to his new home in another state before the kits arrive and I need to know what I have to do and collect (how much hair and from where and how to store it)so I can collect what I need before he leaves. Help please!!

Thankyou!!!

You only need 50 hairs from mane or tail, I find the tail is easier to get the roots, check to make sure they have white ends on which are the roots.

Put them in a sandwich bag untill you get the paper to put them on.

The DNA kit is just paper to tape the hairs on

All my horses are DNA and Parent Quailfied

Hope this helps.

Be sure your hands are clean and you haven't handled any other horses prior to pulling the mane or tail hair.
