What Special Talents Do You Have?

My talents include being a champion collegiate debater. I love it - following politics, current events, and business so that I can defend whatever point of view is given to me in a debate round. I also used to compete in Mock Trial which is what has inspired me to go to law school after my...

    Farrier Frustration

I will apologize in advance, but I have to rant regarding my experience with farriers in my area. For the last two months I have been trying to find a farrier to shoe my ponies (one classic, one modern, and a modern pleasure). I have shown two of the three ponies before, and at that time...

    Driving attire question

ckmini, That would certainly not be over the top. You will see a wide range of dresses and suits for driving, but I collect prom dresses that I find on sale for horse shows. These are very appropriate for nationals. Good luck!

Youth 7 and Under Classes--Can I go in too?

I probably shouldn't comment since I am fairly unfamiliar with AMHA, but AMHR does permit parents to stand in the arena with 7 year olds and under classes. I would certainly assume that AMHA would permit the same. Like you say, you should not touch the horse or youth, but standing in for...

    Changing the Conchos

I have had to add some and take some off, and I did not have any problems. They were both of the thread through the leather kind. You should not have any problem.

    Nervous Horse

Hello Mini Luver, I have been working with driving horses for quite some time now, and I have my fair share of success. If you take the quality time and effort with nearly any horse, they can be a driving horse. Three years ago, I showed a loud appaloosa mare at the AMHR Nationals in futurity...

    Showing AMHR as an amateur

I certainly didn't want to discourage you Stephanie from showing in open. You can still show in both. Amateur classes don't qualify for Senior or Grand championships. So, just try a bit if both. As a youth, I always showed in both open and youth. Now I'm too old for that! Plus, its another...

    Showing AMHR as an amateur

That's right, you only need an amateur card if you want to show in amateur. However, if you want to show in amateur, yes, you have to have one - and make sure you send in a copy of it with your entries and bring it with you to the show. To get an amateur card you just have to call the office...

    Showing AMHR as an amateur

Hi Brenda, Having an amateur card in no way limits you to only amateur classes. You may still show in any open class. As long as the class is not listed as "youth", you should be safe. Liberty is an open class so you can still show in it as an amateur. I hope this helps! Tammy

What are the "Rules of the Ring" when driving?

The biggest tip that I can give is not to be afraid to speak up to let people know you are coming or call someone else out before cutting you off - even in the ring if necessary. Maybe they just don't know - although sometimes they do, and then you just let them know that you are watching out...

    AMHR Youth Packet Information.

Hi Dana, I don't have a 2006 packet, but it won't change much from the 2005 packet (which I do have). The application for princess and junior ambassador asks for the following: 1. Please describe your involvement with shetlands and/or miniature horses. 2. Please list and describe school...

AMHR World Show that was in Ohio for 2005

Does anyone have a contact e-mail for Mr. McCabe? I have been trying to get in touch with him to be added to the mailing list as well. Thanks!

    AMHR/ASPC registration question

You would put your name in "Owner", the breeder's name in "Person owning dam at time of foaling", and you sign your name on the "Owner/Agent Signature".
