Hi all ~

First, we would like to thank all of you for your good thoughts, prayers, kind words and concern about Rio and Spring, the mare we lost. It is very much appreciated.

We are very happy to report that Rio a/k/a Grosshills Mysterios Appy is doing much better today and already seems to be responding to the antibiotics.

His temperature decreased on its own - it went from 104.6 when our vet was here yesterday afternoon, down to 102.2 the last time we checked on him last night.

This morning it was 98.8 and has remained 98.xx all day today with no Banamine. He's gobbling up his food, even with the crushed antibiotic on it. He seems to be back to his pee and vinegar self!

So we hope he's out of the woods and on the road to recovery. The rest of the herd seems well at this point, but we're carefully watching everyone.

Thanks again, everyone. You are such a wonderful group!

Hugs

Dan, Tam & DJ VanderWerf (and Rio)

Hi guys-

That's great news about Rio. About time something goes your way. Hope he continues to recover and that no one else gets sick.

Oh that is GREAT to hear! It's been like a roller-coaster around here lately , with so many horses getting sick, it's super to hear of one getting better! Yay!! :aktion033:

continued prayers for health for Rio and the rest of the herd... after losing Spring, you need a LONG break from horsey health problems!!
