:aktion033: [SIZE=10pt]I got a call from my son last night. He only had 2 minutes to talk. It's amazing you find your self speechless when you have a time limit. He said they have been yelling at them since the minute they got off the bus, but he knew that would be the way it was. I asked him about the food, he said the food was great. They sit down at a table of 4 people, and when the 1st person who sat down is finished the rest of them have to stop eating and leave. So the 1st person who sits down watches to see if he needs to slow down alittle for the rest to finish eating. I am sooooo happy to hear from him.

He graduates from boot camp on Aug 4th, and I'll be there with bells on. We will be able to take him off Base on Aug 5th, so I think we will take him to the Riverwalk (San Antonio, Tx). From there he will head to Mississippi for 20 weeks of tech training.

Thanks for letting me share.

Trish, what specialty is he studying for? I was an Air Traffic Control Radar Maintenance Specialist. I studied at Keesler for 32 weeks or some long time way back in the early 80s. At that time, Keesler was a pretty good place to be. :D

My son is now at Eglin AFB in the Florida panhandle studying Explosive Ordnance Disposal. Now THAT is a scary specialty to be studying!!! :new_shocked:

Hi,

He is going to go into decoding....not sure what that entails. It will be safer then dealing with explosives.

He will be at Keesler for 20 weeks. Plans on flying to Texas for Thanksgiving then drive his truck back to the base. Arrg....not sure I want him to drive that distance by himself. I know it will be ok.

We are so proud of him and the decission to join.

Thanks

You should be proud. My BIL retired from the AF and is now a civilian employee at Keesler. We are an AF family.

That's awesome! When my daughter called the first time from AF basic in 1980 all she did was cry! But she made it, first station was in Italy near the Alps (Aviano) and she loved it for four years!(Medical field)

Now my grand son will be going to same Lackland in August so hope he does as well as your son..good for him! You must be SO proud!

Maxine

Glad he got there safe and sound! Keep us updated on how he's doing! :aktion033:

So glad you got that phone call. Terrific. When my son or daughter in law call from Iraq it leaves me speechless too.
