Probably a dumb harness question - help!

This harness that I have was purchased for me and I have been struggling with it for over a year. Thankfully, last year I was just ground driving so the other attachments didn't really matter. Now, after fixing the too short traces and the too long crupper strap, I can't figure out the breeching. What attaches the breeching hip straps to the crupper strap? If it's not attached, it of course falls off. I tried one of those buckles with the pointy thing (descriptive, huh?), but it still falls off. There's a hole there... HELP!!!! None of the pictures I look at show how it attaches and stays on!

I haven't harnessed any of my horses, yet, they are all too young, but thought perhaps one of the websites I have bookmarked, would have different pictures for you to look at.

My harness has like a second little piece swen to the crupper for the strap for the breaching to slip thur. but take a look at this site it was alot of help when I first hooked dar b up

Yes, most backstraps have a space the breeching is supposed to slip through. It just hangs centered from there and buckles into the main breeching straps.
