I did some searching online and found a heated hose made in the USA, and its structure is somewhat different - not bulky because it uses a conductive silicone for the heat element on the interior of the hose where it meets the water. It's said to use less energy and also has a built-in thermostat. Sounds like a good product and has tons more info compared to the others out there.

This one I am planning to buy, although it is a little bit pricier. It does have a return policy and, unlike the others on the market, it has a 1-year warranty.

I wish it came in 100ft, though.
 
That does look like a different type, Little Hooves, especially the thermostat within the hose. Let us know what your experience is with it!
