Ok, I said I'd never haul a horse trailer through Toronto, but guess what, I did it and everything went fine.
Freeways are actually easier for pulling a horse trailer as there is so much less stopping and starting.
We made it home and the five-hour trip didn't seem to bother LAcey much.
I put together the new cart and have been repeating to myself, "Ok, I liked Lori's cart, I liked Lori's cart...."
I just totally hate assembling anything.
Also, how can a manufacturer put three wrenches in the box and not have one wrench fit one nut or bolt in the whole box ????????
Other than that, it is now together and hopefully I have adjusted it to fit the horse.
I was all set to do our first drive at home today, but there is gale force wind here and I think I'll stack the odds in my favour a little more than that. Chairs are flipping over, tarps are flying and the trees are lashing back and forth.
Instead of driving today, I put Lacey out in the fenced paddock and she RAN and RAN and RAN for fun. So glad I didn't do our first drive with that much energy under the hood
Thanks to Lori at MiLo minis for the great start - I know we're a green team, but Lacey learned a lot and I learned a lot, and we are now set to put in some miles together. So exciting!
Driving at Lori's is like driving at a circus, which is great because Lacey sure learned to stay on track no matter what was happening around her. Great start for future showing!
I've also experienced some varieties of gait and attitude (haha!) and have a lot more confidence than I did three months ago about this.
So glad I didn't try to start this horse myself with my limited experience from several decades ago.
To start it'll be big ovals and circles - down the line it'll be cones and hazards. Let the adventure begin!
