Prom dresses or pajamas, toddlers walking around leading their horse, people sitting in lawn chairs shaving horses’ faces with a Bic razor. Senior citizens receiving sincere congratulations from the competition for their placings. A wheelchair user showing a horse at halter. These are a few of the most-often-seen happenings at the Emerald Valley Classic Miniature Horse Show, held May 23, 24, and 25 at the Oregon Horse Center in Eugene, OR. The show is sanctioned by the American Miniature Horse Association, and hosted by the Northwest Miniature Horse Club (NWMHC).

The show begins at 8am each day, so get out of bed and come on down. If you just cannot bear getting up early, don’t fret; the show continues through to the early evening. Admission is free! Some of the events to take place will be hunting, jumping, halter, obstacle, different styles of driving, and showmanship, all featuring horses under 34” tall. “Minis are great for everyone of every age,” says Dave Miller, NWMHC president. “They are a fantastic way to introduce young children to the horse industry in a safe manner.” Please visit www.nwmhc.com for more information.
