Need Photo advise

I have some silver jewelry items that I am trying to photograph. Anyone have any ideas on how to get the flash from completely overpowering the silver?

use a light box ( walmart used to carry them) or if you have a scanner you can use that. ( yes they work great)

also you can try taking the photo outside without a flash.
