Gate unlatched and minis got into bale of hay

My friend called this morning panicked because her two miniatures got into her feed room last night and ate about a 1/2 bale of hay. She is very concerned about founder and called her vet immediately. The vet said to keep an eye on them. I told her I would get on the forum and ask members for any suggestions for her little guys.

What kind of hay? Alfalfa I would be worried about.

If it's the same kind of hay they've been eating I wouldn't be too worried unless rich with alfalfa (as already mentioned). If it is differrent hay, I would be worried about possible colic too.
