I too was told by specialist you can carry a color gene and not know it.

I asked because I have hazel eyes,,,,,hubby had brown,,,,,,,,and all 3 kids have blue eyes.

Two years ago I use a stud with 2 blue eyes,,,,,,,,,,,used 3 mares, 2 with brown eyes, 1 with blue eyes. the mares with brown eyes both had a colt, both with 2 blue eyes, the blue eyed mare had a filly, both brown eyes.

: Maybe they were switched at birth

I read something interesting last night saying that in humans if a male and female both have blue eyes their children will have blue eyes 100% of the time but if one has blue eyes and the other brown eyes, in 1/4 of the children you will get blue eyes. Reading that article made me think that blue eyes are "dominant"? when paired with blue eyes? Is it the same in horses? Those of you who have bred blue eyes to blue eyes, have you ever had a brown eyed foal?

blue eyes are a double reccessive

: afriend of mine knew her mother had cheated and had no idea who her father was as both her parents had blue eyes and hers were so dark brown they were almost black.....sure stinks when the kids know more than the parents.

Human genetics is out of my realm of expertise, but this idea that two blue eyed parents cannot have a brown eyed child has been disprooven long ago. It is a theory that was taught in high school science classes long ago (when I was in high school) but has been prooven wrong. I talked with a biology teacher just a few weeks ago and it is no longer accepted theory and has not been for some time.

Imagine the homes that have been ruined by this false science.
