The flies are really all over this colt. The only fly spray I have is Mosquito Halt - it says not to use on a foal under 6 weeks of age unless prescribed by a vet. Since my vet is out - was wondering if any of you know what could be used on a 4 day old colt - this may be part of his kicking - maybe? I searched the forum and got a half vinegar and half water - would this hurt him (like dry his skin out too bad)?

I use citronella or eucalyptus oils, vinegar, and water.

I use a regular pump spray bottle, I think most of them are about a quart or litre size.

One oz citronella or eucalyptus oil

1/2 c cider vinegar

top up with water

Shake vigorously before each spraying, as the oil separates quickly.
